Nesting Eagles 2008

I was fortunate enough to find an eagle nest about which I had not previously known. By the time I found out about the nest, the two eaglets in the nest were already about 8 or 9 weeks old. Because the view into the nest is unobstructed, though, the nest provided an excellent opportunity for me to be able to watch the eaglets as they were preparing to fly. I was able to watch and photograph them as they were testing their wings, doing “practice flying”, and venturing further away from the nest. Ultimately, I was fortunate enough to be able to watch both of the eaglets take their first actual flights and to get some shots of one of the adults bringing food back to the nest, as well as some “family portraits” of one of the adults and the two chicks.
